Know Your Material: Quartz

As one of the hardest minerals in the world, it is only natural that quartz surfaces make some of the ﬁnest countertops due to their long durability, non-porous nature, and exquisite appearance.

Every quartz slab is created by mixing the raw stone with pigments and resins, resulting in multiples and gorgeous variations of the color, pattern, size, shape, and shade. Keep in mind that clearer stones increase the value of any quartz surface, just like diamonds!

Keep it radiant by washing your surface with mild soap and warm water.
Even if quartz surfaces are known for being very resistant to heat, prevent any damage by using a hot pad whenever you place a hot object over the counter.
Be careful around the edges! If struck with enough force, the edges of a quartz surface can chip.
As durable as a quartz surface is, avoid any tarnishes from knife abuse by using a cutting board.
